Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to hold the position of Charge RN for our Adult Psychiatric Department.

Summary

The Charge Nurse provides supervision and leadership to assigned nursing care unit for the shift worked.  Are accountable for all the nursing activities in assigned area which includes, but is not limited to, the effective delivery of safe, competent, compassionate and efficient care.  This position requires the ensuring that care is provided in a multidisciplinary approach.  The Charge Nurse completes staffing and nursing assignments for current and oncoming shift and participates in hourly rounding and ensures compliance of same.  The Charge Nurse is the on the ground leader (front line person) who has the responsibility and capability to assess the day-to-day situations and initiate the actions needed to address issues at hand.  This role has direct responsibilities that are both clinical and operational in nature.  The Charge Nurse must ensure that services are provided within the philosophy and objectives as well as the policies and procedures of Halifax Health.  Additional responsibilities include the delegation to and activity of Unlicensed Assistive Personnel and Licensed Practical Nurses.  The Charge Nurse will ensure the provision of nursing care is in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice Nursing and as defined by the Florida Board of Nursing. This individual will be a key participant in the respective service line and understands his/her responsibility toward the growth of respective service line.

Job Qualifications

  • Currently licensed or eligible for RN licensure in State of Florida.
  • Bachelor's Degree (BSN or healthcare related) required, or enrolled in BSN program
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience
  • One (1) year of previous charge experience required.
  • Specialty certification required per department (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, etc.)
  • Experience with the Meditech program preferred.
  • Professionalism in interpersonal communication skills with patients, patient families, colleagues, physicians and ancillary department personnel required.
