    Halifax Health is seeking a Manager, Platform Services for the IT - Tech Services Department.


    The Manager of Infrastructure Services is responsible for monitoring, supporting, and implementing infrastructure for the network, telecom, servers, storage, and desktop teams. This position will directly manage 15 – 20 team members. Including but not limited to network architects, network engineers, network techs, system administrators, storage engineers, and desktop engineers. This position will be a highly technical role that reports to the director of technical services.


    Job Qualifications

    • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or a related field.
    • Requires 8-10 years of related infrastructure experience with at least 3 years of management experience. Requires skills in the following areas:
      • Windows and linux server environment          
      • SAN and NAS storage knowledge
      • Experience with mobile device management and device lifecycle
      • Business continuity and disaster recovery planning
      • Networking fundamentals     
      • Relationship management
      • Project management
      • Wide area networking
      • Budget planning
      • Resource management
      • Trend analysis
      • Policy and procedure development

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement an equipment plan for the purchase and repair of computing equipment throughout the network, including networks, servers, PC hardware and software, training and desktop standards throughout the department; develop improved service routines, procedures and methods to ensure efficient computer utilization and expedient completion of schedule requirements.
    • Coordinate and maintain liaison with users and vendors to ensure the proper and timely completion of customer requirements. Prepare operational reports and analysis setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. 
    • Direct the research and evaluation of existing information systems and connectivity issues for potential modification and usage; assist in the development of departmental and enterprise information technology policy; plan for hardware, capacity and physical configuration needs for expansion and growth of network computing systems.
    • Develop and monitor internal and external training programs to ensure that new personnel are oriented to departmental procedures and that personnel within the departmental unit are informed concerning changing information systems technologies.
    • Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, work assignments, performance appraisals, promotions and disciplinary actions.
    • Act as an integral member of the IT Disaster Recovery Team, participating in the development and execution of disaster recovery plans and procedures.
    • Promote and adhere to departmental and organizational information security policies, standards, and procedures.
    • Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein described.
