Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Category Lead for the Purchasing/Supply Chain Services Department.

Summary

The successful Strategic Sourcing Category Lead effectively manages several sourcing and contract assignments with medium to high degrees of complexity, value and risk with minimal management direction. This role is required to consult with internal stakeholders, manage end-to-end sourcing projects and communicate solutions across functions. This role will utilize Halifax Health’s strategic sourcing methodology to deliver procurement value that enables internal stakeholders to deliver on their goals and objectives. Additionally, the Strategic Sourcing Category Lead will assist the Director, Strategic Sourcing in developing category sourcing strategies, solutions, and processes to govern internal consumption of various supplier services and/or materials.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, nursing, finance, analytics, business management or a related field.

  • Two or more years of professional experience.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to work cross functionally, inclusively and be able to influence others.

  • Experience in healthcare, retail or manufacturing.

  • Experience or working knowledge of supply chain management, finance, analytics or process improvement.

  • Working knowledge of data analysis and forecasting tools and ability to develop actionable insights from data.

  • Knowledge of sourcing process, negotiations, contracting, industry/trend analysis, metrics/measurement, etc.

  • Experience with RFP/RFQ development and execution using eProcurement tools.

  • Knowledge of Lean principles or Six Sigma.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to build and improve trusting relationships.
  • Provide effective communication (written, conversation) to influence and gain acceptance and approval of ideas, proposals, and solutions from stakeholders.
  • Analyze data to identify areas of opportunity to improve efficiency, utilization or reduce costs.
  • Develop and execute projects to enhance supply chain operations, improve clinical outcomes and generate cost savings.
  • Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Assess supplier operations and enforce compliance with quality standards.
  • Measure supplier performance and report to management.
  • Utilize and ensure all appropriate documentation and internal control/compliance standards are met (process, templates, tools, contract database, etc.).
  • May contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Attention to detail.
