Halifax Health - Hospice is seeking an RN Education/Quality Improvement Specialist.
The Education Specialist is responsible for coordinating the education and training of all employees of Hospice with expectations to travel around eastern central Florida, as well as presenting special educational offerings to outside entities. Interacts closely with members of the HHMC educational department, other hospices, and community members.
Conducts, coordinates, and evaluates orientation to hospice for all new employees on a monthly basis
Presents relevant information to different disciplines regarding hospice philosophy and operations.
Revises orientation program as needed to address changing conditions
Assists in the development and/or offering of educational programs relevant to the needs of all disciplines
Determines clinical and operational learning needs using feedback from employees and customers
Conducts annual skills competency workshops with nursing and hospice aide staff
Evaluates staff for competencies relevant to their job responsibilities, and provides remedial education when competency not demonstrated
Assists in the review of current policies and procedures; makes recommendations for revisions as identified through Quality Improvement, safety, and educational activities
Clinical policy and procedure manual is updated annually and as needed throughout the year. Changes are communicated to staff, and meet the needs of employees
Attends meetings and continuing education programs for personal growth and to obtain information for further educational offerings to staff
Educational programs reflect current research and best practices
Works closely with mentor and preceptors to assure new staff receive optimal orientation to clinical positions
Conducts meetings with preceptors periodically to ensure that consistent information is being delivered, that meets the goals of the organization
