Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a Manager for the Fund Development team reporting to Hospice.

Summary

Management position responsible for the development and growth of all aspects of a mature development program/portfolio including: annual, major, planned giving and capital campaigns. Coordinates several annual fundraising events ( Golf Tournament, 5K Race, etc.) on behalf of Hospice with the proceeds designated to subsidize programs offered within our Hospice. Supervision is provided by the Executive Director of Hospice.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s (required) or Master’s degree (preferred) in Public Relations.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of development with non-profit organizations.
  • Fund Development, Marketing, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to interact with varied inter-hospital departments and outside agencies on behalf of the facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people, teams, and assets.
  • Demonstrated success in fund-raising.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Responsible for fundraising and constituent development with a long-range goal of increasing the organization’s visibility and generating diversified and sustainable philanthropic and grant support for Halifax Health Hospice
  • Develops, coordinates and implements cultivation and solicitation plans for individuals, corporations/businesses, foundations and other selected prospects including Board Member.
  • Volunteer solicitation, major and planned gifts, direct mail, and donor communications.
  • Oversees/implements major prospect management and engages in extensive field work to personally meet with prospective major and planned gift prospects/donors with the goal of advancing relationships to philanthropic investments.
  • Coordinates and manages fundraising event(s), program(s) and campaign(s) by leveraging creative thinking skills in event planning to engage the communit
  • Provides staff leadership, management, and volunteer support for capital campaigns.
  • Implements long and short-term plans for development with measurable goals which are based on annual operating and strategic program plans.

Operational

  • Collaborates with the Hospice Director to create a budget and an annual Strategic Plan for the programs over all Fund Development. Plan reviews to scheduled quarterly to discuss goals and achievements. 
  • Creates messaging and collaterals that support department initiatives.
  • Works with the Executive Director, Hospice Advisory Board and the Board of Directors to consult on potential volunteers who could assist in raising program/campaign funds.
  • Manages logistics, oversees all volunteers and tracks effectiveness of each event and sponsorship.
  • Develops infrastructure for donor recognition, retention, renewal and upgrade.

 

  Financial 

  • Create and manage budgets and work within marketing and special event budgets.
  • Creates and maintains accurate donor records including tracking, profiles, acknowledgments and other correspondence.
  • Develops grant proposals and/or applications and researches new foundations/corporations and grant opportunitie.

Compliance/Quality Assurance

  • Works with the Executive Director to develop policies and procedures for philanthropy participating in ongoing quality improvement.
