Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Lead, Procedural Category for the Purchasing/Supply Chain Services Department.

Summary

The Strategic Sourcing Lead is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies to achieve best total value for the organization including supplier relationship management, negotiation, and supply base performance management.  The successful Strategic Sourcing Lead effectively manages several sourcing assignments with varying degrees of complexity, value and risk.  This role is required to consult with internal stakeholders within the OR, Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology, as well as other clinical leaders.  This role will utilize Halifax Health’s strategic sourcing methodology to deliver value that enables internal stakeholders to deliver on their goals and objectives.  This role is responsible for minimizing risk to the overall Halifax Health supply chain and driving cost reduction.

Job Qualifications

  • Masters degree in supply chain management  in nursing, finance, analytics, business management or a related field is strongly preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Nursing experience will be considered with respective degree.
  • 5 years of professional experience.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to work cross functionally, inclusively and be able to influence others.

  • Experience in healthcare, retail or manufacturing.

  • Experience or working knowledge of supply chain management, finance, analytics or process improvement.

  • Working knowledge of data analysis and forecasting tools and ability to develop actionable insights from data.

  • Knowledge of sourcing process, negotiations, contracting, industry/trend analysis, metrics/measurement, etc.

  • Experience with RFP/RFQ development and execution using eProcurement tools.

  • Knowledge of Lean principles or Six Sigma.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads high-level sourcing strategy in conjunction with Supply Chain leadership
  • Partner with Surgeons and Clinical leadership to evaluate new items, spend categories within the procedural space, Capital requests and all other Sourcing activities.
  • Supports Surgeons with their requests to be reviewed and evaluated by Halifax Health’s Technology Assessment Panel (TAP)
  • Directs Supply Chain involvement in Value Analysis Team. Coordinates supplier support of VA Teams. Drives lean supply chain integration.
  • Creates RFQ/Proposal analysis and recommendations. Negotiates contracts and maintains contract files.
  • Partners with stakeholders for successful contract negotiations. Develops and manages strategic relationships with preferred suppliers. Monitor and improve supplier performance in terms of delivery, quality, and cost.
  • Manages and supports key initiatives and partners with internal stakeholders to supply and materials utilization through committees and both formal and informal venues and communication.
  • Sequesters and evaluates large sets of data to evaluate product utilization within the organization.
