Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a Manager of Respiratory Therapy.

Summary

A Registered Respiratory Therapist that directs all functions of the EKG, EEG, Pulmonary Function and Respiratory Therapy departments.

Job Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor degree from an accredited school of Respiratory Care. NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist.

  • Must possess skills in providing patient care for the newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

  • Minimum of 5 years hospital respiratory care experience with at least 2 years supervisory and/or managerial experience.

  • Certificates and Licenses: Valid and Current Florida Respiratory Care license. BLS certification required.

  • Other advanced education/certification pertinent to area of responsibility.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Controls costs and operates within established budget.

  • Develops and monitors annual budget and departmental goals.
  • Collect, prepares, and evaluates all statistical data for departmental monthly activity reports.

  • Maintains an adequate but minimal inventory of departmental supplies and ensures  the integrity of their use and distribution.

  • Ensures an active performance improvement program is in effect.

  • Services are planned based on the patient’s  assessed needs.

  • Interviews, selects and trains qualified new employees.                               

  • Observes performance and attitude of all employees. Keeps in mind performance requirements and role relationships.

  • Conducts departmental meetings.                 

  • Makes daily assignments based on patient acuity and staff abilities.                   

  • Manages department to efficiently and effectively accomplish departmental hospital goals and objectives

  • Acquires equipment and ensures maintenance to keep equipment in good working order.

  • Reviews new procedures and methods, tests and reviews new equipment.

  • Attends Department Manager meetings and participates in other committee assignments.

  • Collaborates with physicians and other support services, promoting efficiency, effectiveness and economy of operation and initiates action on problems.

  • Ensures adherence to professional and legal standards within the department.
  • Provides clinical training and conducts or directs in-services for staff and other related hospital personnel.
