Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a GI Technician for GI Services.

Summary

The Gl Technician will assist the provider with endoscopy procedures, as well as will be responsible for the care, cleaning and maintenance of all equipment assisting with maintaining inventory of supplies, and assisting the Registered Nurse in the admitting, recovery, and discharge process.

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • General knowledge of Medical/Surgical supplies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

     

  • Must possess excellent problem solving skills bility to work in a team environment and give direction as needed

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • The duties and responsibilities of the Endoscopy Technician include, but are not limited to:
  •    Able to assist the physician during the procedure
  • Able to set up room, excluding medications, for any procedure.
  • Cleans and disinfects rooms between procedures d, Utilizes safety measures, e.g. masl€ gloves e, Safely handles and verifies specimens
  • Can transfer specimens to Pathology
  • Demonstrates and uses knowledge of safety measures.
  • *Cleaning Procedures
  • Pre-cleaning of scope at bedside and cleaning of scope after procedures
  • Leak tests scope after every procedure
  • Knows proper procedure for manually soaking scopes in high level disinfectant if needed
  • Can properly utilize the Endoscopic reprocessor(s)
  • Care and Maintenance of Equipment
  • Keeps an accurate inventory of all supplies and equipment
  • Knows how to operate all equipment in the Procedure rooms
  • Establishes and maintains stock levels of supplies agreed upon by the Charge Nurse.
