Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a Transportation Specialist for the Non-Emergency Patient Transport Department.

Summary

This individual will be responsible for the safe transport/travel of patients to and from department floors and/or inter-facility locations i.e. Hospice, Halifax Health Main Campus, Halifax Health Port Orange, Assisted Living Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities and Private Residences, working with internal departments, Case Management, Clinical Floors and Security, in a safe and professional manner at all times.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Current and valid Florida Drivers License
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified
  • Non-Emergency Transport experience preferred
  • Ability to navigate in the surrounding areas of Volusia/Flagler Counties required
  • Ability to operate medical equipment i.e. Medical Oxygen, Medical Stretcher and/or Wheelchair
  • Experienced working with sick, injured or disabled individuals
  • Experience working with medical transportation equipment
  • Possess good communications skills

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to operate an ambulance type vehicle, in a safe manner at all times in accordance with FL State Statue.
  • The driver is responsible for the ambulance type vehicle.
  • Responsible for monitoring discharged patients and inner facility patients at all times.
  • Ability to follow and comprehend verbal/written communications
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections, documenting any discrepancies
  • Verify all medical equipment is in operating order at all times
  • Transport clients to their destinations on time and in a safe manner
  • Provide assistance to all clients in and out of the transportation vehicle
  • Report any traffic delays while en-route, incidents and or accidents to communications to avoid delays with delivery and/or pick-ups.
  • Must be able to operate within guidelines an 800MHz radio as part of the County Public Safety Communications system
  • Must wear the appropriate uniforms and demonstrate a clean professional appearance at all times
  • Other tasks as assigned
