Halifax Health is seeking a 

Ambulatory Patient Care Technician.

Summary

The Outpatient Certified Patient Care Tech (PCT) provides direct and indirect patient care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practice nurse.  Patient care is provided according to current policies, procedures, protocols and practice guidelines, contributing to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and all other team members. They will also perform clerical and receptionist duties as assigned. 

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Completion of a nursing assistant course required and state certification. CNA License with the State of Florida
  • Computer Skills
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • 1-2 years clinical experience preferred
    Clerical training and/or medical receptionist course or experience is preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs assignments with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Documents patient care according to policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work based on patients’ needs, and clinic requirements.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new methods, procedures, and techniques and incorporates them into practice.
  • Works harmoniously with other licensed and non-licensed staff.
  • Assists with orientation of new certified nursing assistants.
  • Assists with obtaining supplies and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Operates and maintains equipment as indicated for patient care needs.
  • Reports/corrects environmental safety hazards.
  • Maintains confidentiality in communications regarding patients and staff.
  • Demonstrates professional development and accountability in their daily work performance.
  • Attends clinic staff meetings, and required hospital in-services.
  • Takes Vital Signs Accurately: Oral and rectal temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, pulse ox.
  • Interview/Documentation: Obtain and document chief complaint, administer and document patient screeners as directed accurately in the patient’s EHR.
  • Administrative Duties: Monitor, respond and complete tasks in assigned messaging bucket in the EHR
  • Potential Clerical Duties: Cross trained in receptionist and reservation specialist roles to fill in when assigned to cover phone call, schedule patients, check patients in and out, collect co-pays, scanning documents, assisting with medical records.
