Overview

Halifax Health is seeking an Electrical Supervisor for the Facility Operations Department.

Summary

This individual is responsible for the supervision, operation, and repairs of electrical systems such as switchgear, buss duct, etc. Supervises and manages Team Members and the requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and materials. Also responsible for the planning and monitoring of the electrical portion of construction and renovation projects.

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Additional education in electrical required.
  • Minimum of five years experience in the electrical trade.
  • Additional experience in a hospital related field preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical system including switchgear, starters and controls.
  • Ability to train and supervise electricians in all phases of the trade.
  • Years of experience determined by the quality of assignments and related to position responsibility.
  • Skills in oral and written communications required.
  • The ability to interpret electrical blueprints and wiring diagrams as well as knowledge of electrical distribution systems to meet the National Electrical Code is required.
  • Ability to operate electrical tools testing including disturbance analysis and chart recording devices.
  • Ability to operate and maintain emergency generator systems required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises the maintenance and operation of hospital interior  and exterior electrical system including:
    • Starters
    • Motors
    • Generators
    • Electrical switch gear
    • Incinerator
    • Testing, repairs, and maintenance of fire alarm system.
    • Testing and maintenance to emergency transfer switches
    • Maintenance and repairs to parking lot gates
    • Repairs of electrical components identified in thermal image testing.
    • Repairs and maintains operating room emergency lights and battery system.
  • Supervise and schedule installation of electrical system and new equipment technology.
    • Additions to and replacement of electrical equipment
    • Conduits
    • Phones
    • Computers
    • Intercom
    • Television
    • Security systems
    • Fire alarm system
  • Supervise and schedule periodic testing to establish areas including:
    • Operating Room
    • Labor and Delivery
    • Isolation Units
    • Patient areas
  • Supervises and schedule construction electrician on interior and exterior projects such as:
    • Renovation
    • New installation
    • Additions
    • New construction
  • Responsible for assembly planned and actual cost data on construction and renovation projects which involves material take off and labor projection.
  • Supervise and manage assigned electricians including:
    • Counseling
    • Evaluations
    • Work schedules
    • Conduct training programs for Team Members
  • Supervise the requisitioning and purchasing of equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
