Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Anestesia Department- Surgical Services.

Summary

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the delivery of care utilizing the nursing process of assessing, collecting and documenting data in order to identify nursing diagnoses. Responsible for establishing, planning, implementing and evaluating individual patient care and discharge plans. Provides responsible and accountable nursing care based on established clinical nursing practice standards subscribed to by the American Nursing Association and in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act.  Assists the Anesthesiologists and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists to facilitate the delivery of optimum anesthesia care. This care is delivered to an assigned group of newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Helps to determine and maintain adequate levels of pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment in all areas where anesthesia services are provided. Engages in collaborative relationships with peers and other professional disciplines, applies principles of leadership and assumes responsibility for professional growth and accountability.

 

Job Qualifications

  • Currently licensed as a RN in the State of Florida.
  • Bachelor degree/diploma/associate degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Certifications as required by individual unit/area.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience with previous Critical Care or PACU experience preferred.  
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS is required   
  • Professionalism in interpersonal communication skills with patients, patient families, colleagues, physicians and ancillary department personnel.
  • Personal professional development, accountability, organization and leadership in the performance of professional nursing practice.
  • Must be customer-service oriented and able to effectively communicate and build relationships with co-workers and key stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
  • Professionalism in interpersonal communication skills with patients, patient families, colleagues, physicians and ancillary department personnel is required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, to assist in providing exceptional care for our patients and their families.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists Anesthesiologist and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists to assure optimal care in the anesthesia all arears where anesthesia services are provided.  
  • Assists the Anesthesia Team with instrumentation or equipment during procedures.
  • Demonstrates effective communication techniques.
  • Helps to determine and adjust, as necessary, the stock levels of pharmaceutical, supplies, and equipment for the anesthesia storerooms, each operating room and allied areas.
  • Procurement of pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Performs routine inspections of pharmaceuticals and supplies for correctness.  
  • Participates with and assists the Chief Anesthesiologist with coordinating and in servicing “trial” and new equipment.
  • Responsible for personal and professional development.
  • Performs others related duties as requested.
