Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a HIM Specialist for the Health Information Management Department.

Summary

The HIM Specialist is responsible for the release of medical information; assisting in the analysis and processing of incomplete medical records, distribution functions, completion of birth certificates, and processing of internal and external requests; provides assistance to the physicians in completion of records. Provides excellent customer service to all customers.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years of college and/or other related course work, such as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology preferred.
  • RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) credential preferred.
  • 1-3 years progressive Health Information Management experience preferred
  • Must have proficient computer skills.
  • Experience with an Electronic Medical Records system preferred.
  • Knowledge of Health Information Management software applications .
  • Must be customer-service oriented and able to effectively communicate and build relationships with Team Members at all levels in the organization.
  • Professionalism in interpersonal communication skills with patients, patient families, colleagues, physicians and ancillary department personnel is required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, to assist in providing exceptional care for our patients and their families.
