Halifax Health is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist for the Radiology - Ultrasound Department.
The Diagnostic Sonographer utilizes high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques for medical diagnosis. The professional level of the health care service requires highly skilled and competent individuals who function as integral members of the health care team. The Diagnostic Sonographer must acquire and maintain specialized technical skills and medical knowledge to render quality patient care. Job responsibilities include acquiring and evaluating data, performing diagnostic procedures using ultrasound images, and providing patient and public information.
Formal Education: Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission on
Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.
Related Experience: Previous experience as a certified Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is preferred..
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Certification: Certification in one or more specialties to include vascular technology (i.e. abdomen, OB/GYN) must be obtained
in the first year of employment. Registration by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
(ARDMS) must be obtained within first year of employment. Current compliance with continuing medical
education (CME) requirements for specialties as appropriate.
