Overview

Halifax Health is seeking an Application Analyst II for the IT Department.

Summary

The Application Analyst II provides consultation and assistance to users of health information systems to include: analyzing user requirements, designing and developing reports and presentations, troubleshooting and resolving report issues, training users, and writing user documentation.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer-related, business or health-related field, or equivalent technical training required.
  • Requires three years (3) of experience in an operational or IT-related analyst role to gain exposure to user technical needs for on-line healthcare computer systems.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be acceptable.
  • Requires skills in the following areas:
    • Customer Service
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
    • Analytical skills
    • Requirements gathering and documentation
  • Desirable experience in the following areas:
    • MEDITECH HCIS
    • Allscripts
    • Microsoft Access and SQL Database
    • NPR – intermediate level
    • Project Management
    • Scripting Tool experience

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with customers to define and document specific programming requirements for each request received. Develop programs/reports to meet the requirements.  Document development activities according to department standards. This activity includes interviewing users, observing current user environment, evaluating existing systems and applications, determining data input and output specifications and defining and documenting functional requirements for software design.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to programs/reports developed in-house.
  • Gather, analyze and report department performance metrics. 
  • Identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support NPR reporting tool within MEDITECH Healthcare Information System.
  • Develop reports utilizing ODBC development tools (e.g., Crystal Reports, MS Access Reporting).
  • Plan and teach user training sessions, and make oral and written presentations to project teams and management.
  • Represent the IT department in other departmental meetings or committees.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Promote and adhere to departmental and organizational information security policies, standards, and procedures.
